First Day back at work great..until...

My first day back was great until I started back to my car.  I had been given 3 immunizations in the early afternoon and had started getting nauseous, but in the 1/2 block walk to the parking lot, I had to throw up 3 times (sorry TMI).  Then, on the drive down Chapman Hwy, it became so violent, I was actually throwing up every minute or two, and couldn't see to drive.  It was actually dangerous.  I realized I was REALLY ill and called an ambulance from the side of the road.  Nancy, this is about 20 minutes after I cancelled our Zumba date.  When they got there, I was hypotensive and diaphoretic (sweaty) and my temp was 95 degrees and my O2 sats were 93%.  What the heck?  So, they hauled me into the ambulance, took my purse, my trusty card with all my medical info, and my phone, and took me to the ER.  One of them called Ron and told him I was really sick and to come get my car off the side of Chapman Hwy, I spent the entire evening in the ER turns out it wasn't the immunizations, it was food poisoning from grilled chicken I had at lunch they think and since we WLS pts dont have a lot of reserves when it comes to fluids, I got in trouble REALLY fast.  Home now, feeling better, and gonna try work again today, can't miss my second day!  But, I am NOT going to eat anything from the cafeteria!

OH MY GARSH!!  That sounds awful....  I'm glad that you got off the road.  I have never heard of food poisoning to that extent!  I'm glad that you're ok, and I bet you sure won't want chicken anytime soon!!

Marilyn,

I am sooo sorry to hear what happened to you.  There you were in the ER and I was trying to kill myself at Zumba!!    No, seriously, I hope you are a lot better today.  Give me a call when you feel up to it and I will let you know about the class.  It was a killer but really felt good!

The sickest I have been since surgery was on chicken.  I kept telling Bleu, "It seems kind of dry".  Apparently that is NOT good.  Of course, it was not as bad as food poisoning!

Take care.

We love ya,

Nancy

 YIKES!!!

I'm glad you are feeling better but so sorry you had to go through that, Marilyn.  Cafeteria food is evil, I tell ya!

I'm also glad you were coherent enough to pull over and call for an ambulance before you got into an accident, God forbid.  It is totally something to think about, like you mentioned having low reserves when it comes to fluids.  A good reminder for me to stay on top of things.  Right now I'm on my 5th 8 oz cup of Crystal Light for the day.  I'll be thinking of you and sending you happy thoughts while I drink!

HUGS!!!

Wow, what a horrible thing to happen on your first day back.   That's the stuff of nursemares!

I am glad you're feeling better now - that dehydration isn't anything to mess around with!    The cafeteria where I used to work tried to give us food poisoning, too.   They were selling chicken that was pink!   I took it back and they tried to say it wasn't pink, or that it was supposed to be pink or something.   Yeah, right.
